President Joe Biden is starting to hear it from members of his own party on the growing border crisis.
Are Democrats Turning Against Biden on Immigration?
On Thursday, during an appearance on "The View," Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer walked out of step with the executive branch in saying, "I think it will get better in the next few months. If it doesn’t, I will go to them and say 'You got to do better,'" Schumer said. "And if they don’t, I will be public. But I got to give them a little bit of a chance because they inherited a big, big mess created by Donald Trump, whose views on immigrants just turned me off."
Among the many reversals in immigration policy that have occurred in just the past several weeks has been the halting of wall and fence construction along the border, a priority of the previous administration.
As a result of this, and many other things including the reimplementation of a "catch and release" strategy, illegal border crossings are up 28% as migrants surge in anticipation of potentially being one of as many as 11 million illegal residents hoping to gain amnesty and a pathway to American citizenship via the Biden administration.
