Ban on 3D Gun Blueprints Extended

On Monday, US District Judge Robert Lansik extended the ban on the online distribution of 3-D printed gun blueprints. Democratic-led, gun grabber states have argued that allowing the distribution of the aforementioned blueprints would violate their right to regulate firearms and endanger their citizens.

Lasnik issuance of a nationwide injunction blocks a Texas-based group from publishing files for printing plastic weapons on the internet.

Lasnik had previously issued an order on July 31 that blocked the release of the blueprints just hours before they were set to be released online. That ban would have expire tomorrow, but the new ban will remain in place until the matter is resolved.

19 U.S. states and the District of Columbia in July sued the U.S. government looking to prevent the release of the blueprints, saying that they would allow criminals easy access to create weapons.

Lasnik opined that the states have submitted sufficient evidence that they are likely to suffer "irreparable harm" if the blueprints are published despite any First or Second Amendment considerations.
