An arrest on Tuesday and charges on running a drug house have hit California Democratic mega donor Ed Buck, after reports that a third man overdosed and survived inside his home last week.
This is not the first time a guest has overdosed in Buck’s apartment – two previous cases 18 months apart from each other in which two black men died have earned Buck public scrutiny, however, he was not charged in either case.
The LA Times reported that the Democrat donor’s response to the three counts of battery and a methamphetamine injection on the alleged third victim is due in court Wednesday.
Abuse of his position of power to manipulate victims into indulging his fetishes is what prosecutors have described in court papers - “These fetishes include supplying and personally administering dangerously large doses of narcotics to his victims,” the prosecutors wrote, based on the LA Times’ information.
Buck’s attorney Seymour Amster has told Fox News the arrest would not be commented on and that the issue is being dealt with. In the past, Amster has insisted no wrongdoing on his client’s part and defended him.
The two previous cases of overdoses in Buck’s home were both caused by methamphetamine overdose. The first incident in July 2017, the body of Gemmel Moore, 26, was found naked in Buck’s living room. Exactly eighteen months later, Timothy Dean, 55, died from an overdose. Insufficient evidence has been cited as the reason why no criminal charges have been filed by prosecutors.
The latest case entails that Buck allegedly injected the man inside his home earlier this month and was injected about a week later once again, suffering an overdose.
The man survived and was treated at a hospital after reportedly fleeing the apartment and calling for help, Buck also faces accusations of attempting to prevent the man from getting help.
A sentence of up to five years and eight months in prison are what face Buck if convicted with prosecutors looking for a $4 million bail was reported by the KABC-TV of Los Angeles.
