China Blocks Assistance From US Scientists on Coronavirus Research

Secretary of State Mike Pompeo told Fox News’ “The Ingraham Angle” on Wednesday that Beijing is still not allowing American scientists to go into the country to help study and analyze the novel coronavirus and learn about its origins – where it came from.

New Estimates Believe Cases in China Are Four Times Higher

Pompeo stressed that China still hasn’t reached the transparency needed, also keeping his criticisms of the World Health Organization for failing to ensure that China reports an accurate statistic on the coronavirus.

“It is the World Health Organization’s responsibility to achieve that transparency. They’re not doing it. They need to be held accountable,” Pompeo said.

Pompeo also signaled that the WHO’s director-general, Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, should step down from his position, as US President Trump announced last week that payments to the agency are being frozen until their actions and response to China are examined and reviewed.

As of Feb. 20, China reported more than 55,000 cases of COVID-19, but a recent report in the medical journal Lancet from Hong Kong researchers indicate that the real number could’ve been more than 232,000, due to Chinese health officials applying different versions of what constituted a case.
