China Will Not Restrict PPE Exports After Whitehouse Threat of Legal Action

China will also be providing support to Control the Pandemic

China will not be restricting exports of medical supplies, the South China Morning Post reports, after threats of legal action from the White House.

China Will be Offering Help

“We will not forget that at the beginning of the fight against the epidemic, many countries gave us a helping hand,” Jiang Fan, from the department of foreign trade at the Ministry of Commerce of China, said Sunday at a press conference.

Jiang added that China will be providing support and assistance to slow the pandemic and better control it, therefore no restrictions will be imposed on the export of medical supplies.

The New York Post reported that 3M and Honeywell were being blocked by exporting the personal protective equipment (PPE) that they’ve been making in China, leading up to the White House threatening legal action.

Trump campaign senior legal adviser Jenna Ellis said to the Post that the administration could bring the case to the European Court of Human Rights or address the accusations at the United Nations, comparing China’s alleged blocking of medical supplies to first-degree murder.

The US has been running low on gloves, masks, and gowns as the virus spreads, so far infecting more than 335,000 Americans and claiming over 10,000 casualties.
