Former Navy Seal Launches Grassroots Congressional Run

Retired Navy SEAL Floyd McLendon promises that the 32nd Congressional District seat in Texas will be “red again” after Dems flipped it in 2018.

“A Grassroots Effort”

“It’s understanding that it’s a grassroots effort. But also, too, it’s a relationship that needs to be rebuilt – with myself as the leader,” McLendon said on “Fox & Friends,” about his candidacy for a Dallas-area congressional seat as a Republican.

“Because, right now… my fellow constituents – they don’t have that. They don’t have a representative to communicate with them. They don’t have a representative to listen to their voice,” he added, promising better communication and tackling of important issues in the district.

The candidate also believes that his 25-year background in the Navy gives him a big advantage over his opponent, and that fixing the “lack of leadership” is the perfect next mission for the retired SEAL. He pointed out that in the 1970s, about 70% of Congress lawmakers were veterans, while nowadays it’s only 21%.

“And this is what I’m bringing to the table for District 32. Because they haven’t had it in a long time, and we need more representation like that in Congress,” McLendon said.

McLendon, who previously was unable to swim, was able to successfully complete Basic Underwater Demolition Seals (BUDS) training on his way to becoming a Navy Seal.
