Dyson with be presenting new ventilators to the market, specifically aimed at coronavirus patients, 10 days after an order from the UK government.
The “CoVent”
10,000 ventilators were requested by the UK government and Dyson is delivering in a big way – albeit an entirely new ventilator, designed to “address the specific needs” of patients infected by COVID-19.
“This new device can be manufactured quickly, efficiently and at volume,” James Dyson, the company’s founder, said in a letter to employees, which was shared with CNN.
Dyson will also be donating 5,000 units to the international effort in order to combat the coronavirus pandemic, saying that “the race is now on to get it into production.” A spokesperson for the company said that the equipment will almost certainly be ready by early April.
With the deficiency of medical supplies and equipment around the world, many companies are joining in on the effort to produce ventilators and protective gear, such as the UK’s Gtech and US companies Ford in cooperation with 3M and GE Healthcare, General Motors and Tesla.
