New camera footage from the Louisville Metro Police Department and SWAT Team shed light on Breonna Taylor's shooting.
New Footage Fills In Blanks on Breonna Taylor Incident
The footage that was released on Saturday, was part of an investigative file compiled by the LMPD’s Public Integrity Unit and captured by 45 different body cameras.
According to the video material, several policies may have been violated by the responding officers and none of them were paired with an escort officer.
An anonymous Louisville police officer said he had never seen anything like this and that "This is not how it’s supposed to work."
The footage was shared with the state's attorney general’s office.
According to the footage, Detectives Brett Hankison, Myles Cosgrove, Mike Campbell, and Lieutenant Shawn Hoover ,who were the main suspects in Taylor's murder, were still present on the scene even after SWAT officers declared Taylor’s death and the residence an active crime scene.
Additionally, the footage shows evidence potentially favorable to Taylor's boyfriend, Kenneth Walker. According to the ballistic report, Walker shot at officers during the no-knock warrant leading to Brianna Taylor's death.
Kentucky State Police report neither confirms nor denies that Sgt. Jonathan Mattingly was shot by Walker "due to limited markings of comparative value."
By now, no particular person has been blamed for Taylor's death.
On Wednesday, Detective Myles Cosgrove and Sgt. John Mattingly were charged with first-degree wanton endangerment for the bullets that missed Taylor and could have harmed other people. That decision was based on the footage.
