$35,000 worth of groceries were ruined for sale and potentially infected with the Coronavirus due to a “twisted prank.”
Gerrity’s Supermarket in Hanover Township, Pennsylvania, had a rough Wednesday as staff had to dispose of roughly $35,000 worth of groceries and do a thorough cleaning because of what was likely a prank by a woman, recognized as a “chronic problem in the community,” store co-owner Joe Fasula said.
Fasula added that despite the low chances of the woman being infected with the Coronavirus, no chances will be taken with customers’ health, saying that his staff quickly escorted the woman out of the store, with police promising investigation and testing for the woman.
“I am also absolutely sick to my stomach about the loss of food,” Fasula said, further explaining that the case made its way to the District Attorney’s Office, where he was in turn told that numerous charges will be “aggressively pursued.”
Law enforcement and authorities are starting to crack down on those who refuse to take the COVID-19 epidemic seriously, with some being arrested for terrorist threats due to coughing on others or licking or sneezing on products in stores.
