Trump to Sessions: 'Jeff should be investigating' NY Times Author

Trump took some time on Friday to state the obvious. In regards to the anonymous New York Times editorial that has rocked the news cycle, the president told reporters:

“I think it is national security. I would say Jeff should be investigating who the author of that piece is because I really believe it is national security,”

It is, as President Trump stated, a matter of national security. It is also a crime and a violation of the oath taken to serve in the administration. Only in the post-Obama United States could this level of lunacy be attained.

And isn't it funny that former President Obama chose this precise moment in the Presidency of Donald Trump to rear his ugly head?

Some reasonable measures can be taken to attempt to "smoke out" the traitor. Trump can attempt to get sworn affidavits from the up to 12 members of his inner circle that he may suspect of being the author. This would however, ring a bell of distrust that cannot be undone and may result in mass resignations at a critical point, just weeks away from a midterm election.

He can also request that lie detector tests be administered to employees of the executive branch. This is not a foolproof remedy. Lie detector testing is not without flaws.

The intervention of the Justice Department would be key, if Sessions is in fact still operating in the best interests of America. The fact that the office of the AG has allowed President Trump to become a human pin cushion being victimized by a politically motivated witch hunt leads me to believe that Trump's request for action from the Attorney General will fall of deaf ears.

Unusually large, deaf ears...
