US Plans to Make COVID-19 Immunity Cards for Americans Immune to the Virus

Dr. Anthony Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, revealed to CNN’s “New Day” that it’s entirely possible for Americans to start receiving certificates of immunity from the novel coronavirus soon

So far, testing for the coronavirus has only been able to tell if you’re infected or not, antibody tests, however, would be able to tell if you’ve recovered fully even if you’re asymptomatic – thus allowing you to return to your daily life and work.

Certificate of Immunity

As the administration is working to identify the infected and restart the substantially damaged economy in the coming weeks, knowing who is vulnerable and who is not will be a huge factor. To that end, issuing a form of identification, which says whether or not you’re safe from the coronavirus, would be highly practical.

A comprehensive antibody testing system will be the next step the Trump administration will have to take to smoothly reopen the country and start reintegrating essential workers back into society. “Within a period of a week or so, we’re going to have a rather large number of tests that are available to the public,” Fauci said in terms of antibody tests, which are currently being validated in the US.

Forms of ID to determine how “risk-free” you are already being implemented around the world, with immunity certificates being issued in Germany and the idea being suggested in the UK and Italy. Some regions of China also require citizens to display colored codes on their devices, which indicate their contagion risk.
