Why is Super Tuesday so Important to Candidates? All You Need to Know

Super Tuesday – the most important day yet for the presidential race as 34% of the nation’s pledged delegates are up for grabs split along the lines of fourteen states.

March 3rd – The Most Important Battle Yet

Alabama, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Maine, Massachusetts, Minnesota, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Vermont, Virginia, as well as American Samoa and Democrats Abroad will be the voting battlegrounds on March 3rd, Super Tuesday, as some candidates’ campaigns can be made or broken depending on the results.

It’s not an exaggeration to say that the results from the competitions on Super Tuesday will determine what’s going to be happening for the rest of the race, as well as who’s most likely to face Donald Trump later this year.

So far, Sen. Bernie Sanders is leading all other candidates with strong showings in Iowa, New Hampshire and Nevada, although former Vice President Joe Biden and billionaire Michael Bloomberg have quite a decent shot at overtaking Sanders as Pete Buttigieg and Amy Klobuchar dropped out of the race on Sunday and Monday respectively.

Sen. Elizabeth Warren and Rep. Tulsi Gabbard, however, are at their last straws and will be fighting to stay alive and relevant in the race during Super Tuesday.

Possibly the biggest surprise so far in the presidential elections is Mike Bloomberg’s candidacy, as he skipped the four early states, although he’s risen in the polls, perhaps due to the large amount of funds spent on advertising. Despite that, Biden still has a great shot at beating out his fellow Democratic candidates, although he lacks Sanders’ and Bloomberg’s campaign resources.

Without going too much into specifics for each state, Super Tuesday has 1,357 pledged delegates up for grabs and will most likely bring down the number of Democratic candidates to three, who will be fighting for the nomination and opportunity to go up against President Trump and challenge him for the Oval Office.
