As 2019 wraps up and we head towards Christmas, what better time to review some of the best moments in sports throughout the year to see if you missed any history you shouldn’t have?

Patriots Sixth Super Bowl Win

Although many regard Super Bowl LIII as one of the worst and least entertaining in the NFL’s history, as it also was the lowest-scoring ever, the Patriots managed to tie Pittsburgh’s record as they won a sixth NFL Championship. Quarterback Tom Brady and Coach Bill Belichick definitely were not disappointed with their achievement, with Brady being the first player to win six Super Bowls and Belichick being the oldest coach to do so.

Nationals First World Series Win

October 30th saw the Washington Nationals win their World Series championship in a splendid manner in the final three innings, beating the Houston Astros 6-2. The World Series MVP was free agent to be Stephen Strasburg, a pitcher that notched 18 wins during the regular season, to go along with an impressive 1.98 ERA that accompanied his 5-0 record in the postseason.

The Toronto Raptors

A historic moment for the NBA was marked down in the history books this year by the Toronto Raptors back in June, when they became the first non-US team to win an NBA title. June 13th was indeed a sad day for Golden State Warriors’ and their fans, who were aiming to get a third consecutive title, but were ultimately beaten by the Raptors in Game 6 by a 4 point difference, with the final score being 114 to 110.

Going from the bottom half of the Western Conference standings, to the playoffs and then winning the Stanley Cup, was the miracle path taken this year by NHL Champions the St. Louis Blues. With three wins on the road in the finals, the Blues claimed their first Stanley Cup, with Ryan O’Reilly winning the Conn Smythe Trophy as playoff MVP, with eight goals and 15 assists.
