Rep. Steve Scalise (R-LA) was shot Wednesday morning by a still unnamed gunman. The gunman's motives are yet to be known. As many of 5 people were hit with bullets or bullet fragments as a result of the incident.
Rep. Roger Williams (R-TX) was taken off the field on a stretcher. No word yet as to whether he was hit by any gunfire.
"We were doing batting practice," said Sen. Jeff Flake, R-Ariz. "All of a sudden we heard a very loud shot. The gunman was over by the third base dugout with a clear view of the field." He said the gunman had "a rifle of some sort ... a lot of ammo."
