34-year-old Magen Rose Fieramusca has been indicted on capital murder and kidnapping charges, as bit by bit, the truth of Heidi Broussard’s murder case is revealed.
“Best Friend”
A long standing friendship ends between Heidi Broussard and Magen Fieramusca. They were "besties" for more than a decade according to Broussard’s boyfriend Shane Carey. The union ended in a brutal murder.
33-year-old Heidi Broussard went missing in December along with her infant daughter after dropping off her son at school. A little more than a week later, Broussard’s body was discovered in a car trunk at Fieramusca’s home.
The Tuesday-released indictment says that Fieramusca killed her “best friend” by “ligature strangulation, with a leash and with her hand,” per the Austin American-Statesman.
Later on, Broussard’s 3-week-old daughter, Margot Carey, was found inside Fieramusca’s home, completely unharmed, thanks to the help Fieramusca’s ex-boyfriend Christopher Green, who was approached by FBI agents looking for the infant, after leaving a store with baby clothes and formula. The man recognized the child as “the baby at my house,” when he was shown a flyer with pictures of the child.
The arrest affidavit describes the despicable truth about the case – indicating that Fieramusca had spent months faking her own pregnancy in hopes of passing off Broussard’s newborn as her own.
“Exculpatory and mitigating evidence has a shelf-life, and too many individuals in our criminal justice system have been delayed or denied this information. We cannot act to fairly and vigorously represent our Client when we start defending her with our hands tied and eyes blindfolded. Justice ought to be blind, not the defense,” Fieramusca’s lawyer, Brian Erskine stated, as the state hasn’t disclosed the evidence against his client.
Despite that, Fieramusca’s bond on the kidnapping charge has been set at $100,000 and the other bond on the capital murder charge at $1 million, the prosecutors said.
