Boris Now in Intensive Care With Coronavirus Symptoms

Johnson doesn't need a ventilator or have pneumonia, according to reports.

UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson is still being treated in the intensive care unit and receiving oxygen due to symptoms from COVID-19, but without the need for a ventilator and Johnson does not have pneumonia.

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson had intially undergone “routine tests” at a hospital and tested positive for the Coronavirus on March 26th, and announced the results a day later on the 27th. He is currently at St Thomas’ Hospital in central London. The symptoms Johnson’s showed were initially described by his office as mild and persistent.

“I’m in good spirits and keeping in touch with my team, as we work together to fight this virus and keep everyone safe,” Johnson wrote on Twitter.

England’s Chief Medical Officer Chris Whitty didn’t give details on Johnson’s condition and tests, but said that people around his age need to run assessments for their lungs, livers, kidneys and oxygen levels, as well as undergo an electrocardiogram heart check. Whitty didn’t specifically say anything about the Prime Minister, but added that a “clear majority” of people end up in a general bed and not in intensive care, so Johnson's current condition is troubling.

One question remains – what is Britain’s Plan B in case the worst happens? There is no formal succession plan should Johnson become incapacitated longterm.
