Scotland’s Chief Medical Officer Resigns After Controversial Photos Surface

She Failed to Take Her Own Advice

Dr. Catherine Calderwood resigns as Scotland’s Chief Medical Officer after photos emerge, revealing her flouting her own Coronavirus measures.

CMO Breaks Her Own Rules

51-year-old Dr. Calderwood was seen with her husband and kids at a holiday home in Fife this weekend, breaking her own social distancing rules, despite warnings from cops regarding her conduct and breaking the rules by visiting her second home.

While it was initially thought that Calderwood would stay in her post after issuing a public apology, with the backing of First Minister Nicola Sturgeon, it was later announced that Calderwood will now be working to ensure a “smooth transition to my successor.”

“The First Minister and I have had a further conversation this evening and we have agreed that the justifiable focus on my behavior risks becoming a distraction from the hugely important job that government and the medical profession has to do in getting the country through this Coronavirus pandemic,” Calderwood said in a statement.

Nicola Sturgeon expressed gratitude for the medic’s “transformational” work, and advice over the past weeks on dealing with the virus and limiting infections, despite the inevitability of Calderwood leaving her post as CMO.

Scotland comes in with just under 4,000 coronavirus infections and a total of 220 deaths, with more than half of the confirmed cases being in the south of the country, as Glasglow is the hardest-hit with at least 851 infections.
