Cindy Grosz: NY Leadership Must Come Together to End anti-Semitism

By Cindy Grosz:

Like many of you, I spent the immediate hours after a beautiful Rosh Hashanah cleaning up, more cleaning up and .... reading emails.

It was no surprise to me that one of the first emails I opened highlighted more attacks on religious Jews walking to and from shul on Shabbos and Rosh Hashanah. Both attacks took place in Brooklyn, one in Williamsburg and one in Gravesend, near Coney Island.

Truthfully, I was surprised that there weren’t more.

The response for actions were none, except for some tweets from Councilman Chaim Deutsch. Deutsch is a good man. However, his approach to ending Jewish hate crimes has been dead on arrival. He has organized multiple press conferences. He has endorsed and worked to elect people with questionable pro-Jewish support like Leticia James, Jumaane Williams and Farrah Louis to NYC and state offices. He supports Mayor Bill De Blasio on many issues.

Councilman Deutsch, sorry, but you can not stand with people that have control of a biased educational system, stand with Linda Sarsour and others who consistently spur anti-Israel hate and claim to fight BDS when it is alive and well in the Park Slope Food Co-Op.

Councilman Deutsch was among a handful of speakers, along with Former Assemblyman Dov Hikind, to address about 250 participants at a rally recently to fight anti-Semitism. Why wasn’t I there, you ask? Because I knew it would accomplish nothing, except embarrass the Jewish community.

Where were groups from the religious communities which are being targeted? In a city of so many Jews, without a crowd of over 10,000, like at the annual Israeli Day Parade, organizing events like these produce nothing of importance.

How can we expect to end the cycle of rising Jewish hate when our own leadership can’t do the job of bringing us together regardless of religious affiliations and ages? Except for small bits of press, usually tied to the speakers, no realistic outcomes stop the hate. For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction. Sir Isaac Newton figures it out a very long time ago.

Instead of standing up and saying he isn’t going to take it anymore, and call out the Democrats, Councilman that penned this:

Many of those he supports have “Trump Impeachment” agendas on the top of their lists, not arresting and making public spectacles of the attackers. Instead of bringing fear into the communities of Jew haters, they bring fear into yeshiva and shul attendees, or moms with carriages shopping at kosher food stores

No, frum Jews must vote Republican straight down the line..... from school board members, judges, council members, assembly, state senate, national congressional members and the two state senate seats representing you! We must support the President who stands with Israel and Jews around the world!

I was lucky enough to be invited on the pre-Rosh Hashanah White House call where President Trump promised more follow up and action to fighting anti-Semitism.

President Trump acts on what he promises, he doesn’t just talk!

Councilman Deutsch is a fine person. He is just fighting the wrong battle here.... and he is not alone.

The religious communities in Queens are no better!

I can not tell you how many Jewish organization and religious leaders call to ask for my help, my contacts and potential donors starting the conversation like this, “ I need your help. You are very influential. I know you support President Trump. So do I. However, in New York, we have to register and vote for Democrats.”

Here is my answer. People who think this way are no wiser than the European Jews who believed Hitler would never kill six million Jews. Denial is our Jewish plague!

This will be continued in upcoming articles as this is just the beginning. We have plenty of work before November 2020.

Join me in becoming members of Jews Choose Trump and The Exodus Movement. Many former Democrats are seeing the light. Shine yours brighter as the book is sealed and our fate as Jews individually and as a group is determined.

Have an easy and meaningful fast.
