Cindy Grosz: Trump Builds Jewish Embassy Under Budget, NY Dems Can’t Even Serve A Kosher Lunch

As the saying goes, “There’s no such thing as a “free lunch.”  After all, even during corona virus, even as public schools remain closed, liberal, progressive democrats have managed to risk the lives of thousands and spent endless tax payer dollars to open schools and provide meals.

This, as shelters and food banks are providing meals.  This, at a time when teachers unions have been spending millions of dollars applauding themselves for virtual teaching at a time when published reports prove that parents can not deal with the tasks of accountability of student involvement in online classes.

More than 4.5 million meals have been served, which includes vegetarian and halal options for Muslims, amid the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

The meals provided by the city include breakfast, lunch and dinner. New York City intends to lead a program that feeds as many as 2 million residents unable to pay for food, Mayor Bill de Blasio said.

Reports claim that about 400,000 Halal meals will be distributed at 32 Department of Education buildings and another 100,000 will be served through community organizations during the month.

It’s part of a program that has served at least 10 million grab-and-go meals at 435 sites and via taxi to housebound New Yorkers, at a cost of at least $170 million, the mayor said.

So, what happens next? “Ask not what you can do for your students, ask what’s for lunch”

Democratic leadership in the New York City School System decided to make positive headlines by expanding public school lunch programs to include kosher, vegetarian and halal options.

Religious elected officials like Assemblyman Simcha Eichenstein, who represents parts of Midwood and Borough Park and Jewish media outlets praised the mayor for such a “Pro-Jewish” initiative.

There were complaints that food service workers did not have enough masks, gloves, and hand sanitizer, and were at risk for getting the disease.

The program rolled out anyway. According to reports, over 200,000 halal meals were served successfully to students and adults.

The local religious elected officials released the following:

“At the one Boro Park location, the food did not arrive on time, as over 100 people waited on line, according to a staffer at the office of Assemblyman Simcha Eichenstein who fielded calls from a number of frustrated constituents.

City Councilman Kalman Yeger said that many people at the Boro Park site were told that since the food hadn’t arrived yet, they should instead go to the one Midwood site. Meanwhile, the food at the Midwood site ran out quickly, at which point a sign was placed on the door instructing people to go instead to Madison High School – a non-kosher location.

“It is clear that there is an enormous need among kosher-observant New Yorkers, a need that the city is not meeting,” said a statement by Eichenstein, Yeger, Councilman Chaim Deutsch and state Sen. Simcha Felder.

“The Administration must immediately expand the Grab & Go program to include more sites, and ensure that the sites are well stocked to meet the public’s need.”

So far, there were no complaints about the 200,000 halal meals distributed. Interesting.

Could you imagine if the kosher meals were given out without glitches and those needing halal meals were told there was not enough food? Linda Sarsour, AOC and others would have made headlines demanding change.

That’s how little respect Democrats have for Jews and their issues. Jews accept failure easily.

Meanwhile, even Governor Andrew Cuomo, who visited with Trump last week at The White House, has admitted Trump has been helping New York.  He also has been following the initiatives Trump has been advocating, such as restarting the economy and testing options. Yet, Democrats and the liberal media are mute about it.

They barely speak about Joe Biden’s endorsement by J Street and his remarks about embracing support from the anti-Israel progressive public and elected officials.

Amazing. Millions wasted on special food programs. The same who refused to attend the May, 2018 opening of the United States Embassy in Jerusalem. The same that complained that Trump will start World War III in the Middle East and the voices that are discussing returning to the Embassy to Tel Aviv under a Democratic president.
