Cindy Grosz: Why Are Democrats Fighting Voter Fraud Better Than The GOP?

The projections showing a record number of Republican loses in November is frustrating.

This morning, I received an email from a Democrat who I have respect for, even if we don’t always agree. His name is Councilman Reverend Ruben Diaz. He is a conservative and risked a lot from the Democratic Party when in 2016, he hosted a gathering for Senator Ted Cruz, which I was honored to attend. He has a very successful newsletter called “What You Should Know.”

One of this week's topics was about voter fraud:

“Hon. Carmen Arroyo, the first Puerto Rican woman elected to the New York State Assembly, was re-elected obtaining the majority of the votes. However, she will not be able to return to the Assembly due to the regulations of the New York Board of Elections and the law.

You should also know that during the last Democratic primaries, held on Tuesday June 23rd, Assemblywoman Carmen Arroyo obtained a total of 4,354 votes, that’s a 65% of the overall total. Her challenger Amanda Septimo obtained a mere 2,290 votes, a total of 34%.

As you can see, Carmen Arroyo won re-election with double the amount of votes as Amanda Septimo. Yet, surprisingly, the obvious loser of this election, Amanda Septimo, will be representing the residents of Assembly District # 84 in the county of the Bronx, in spite of the fact, that Assemblywoman Carmen Arroyo was obviously elected by the people of said district. This is scandalous, and not representative of a government “For the people, By the people”. The people chose their elected representative, but the people’s rights, and voices are being silenced.

This is a direct result of the gross errors committed by The N.Y. Board of Elections. The Board of Elections is forfeiting the election results because they had eliminated Assemblywoman Arroyo due to a technical error made by Arroyo’s campaign when submitting her petitions. What was this grave error you might ask? They accuse Arroyo of submitting petitions with the wrong date on which the signatures were collected as a result she was disqualified as a candidate.

Therefore, the Board of Elections should have removed her name from appearing on the ballots on the day of the elections. But life has a way of handing out surprises!!”

No surprise for many of us. Why is it that projected candidates in multiple campaigns ended up losing?

Look at every Republican congressional primary, with the exception of the seat of NY’s congressional district 11, in Brooklyn/Staten Island. Michael LiPetri, Beth Parlato and Ola Hawatmeh. On June 23, Hawatmeh was initially declared the winner of her primary with over 52% of the vote. How did she, a personal friend to family members of the Trump family and key advisers lose after mailed-in ballots were counted?

In my own race, my opponent Douglas Tuman did not receive ONE organization endorse other than the Republican Party and a very questionable Conservative Party line. Amazing, since he doesn’t stand with the NRA, right to life and changes his position about supporting Black Lives Matter issues.

The numbers among absentee ballot requests, early and Election Day voting and the mail in ballots don’t seem to add up.

The projection of record number of republican loses in November, even with the horrors of New York ongoing, is frustrating.

Where are republicans? Why does President Trump have to use data from a Democratic congressional race from the Upper East Side to defend the issue of voter fraud.

It’s not mail in or in person voting we should challenge. It’s the Board of Elections staffing and policies. Councilman Diaz is respectful when he writes, “Gross Errors.” There are no errors. Nepotism, business contracts and “blind eyes” run the system. This is nothing new. On Long Island, there is a long established history of voter fraud.

Republicans are going to lose the Peter King seat in Congress because of nepotism. Republicans have an empty state senate seat against John Brooks because of selfishness.

Why can’t Republicans win, because none of them, including myself, are filing lawsuits.

Democratic challenger to Congresswoman Carolyn Maloney, Suraj Patel is taking legal action. He is part of a lawsuit against Governor Andrew Cuomo and the city Board of Elections, who like myself, was unable to see an unknown number of ballots on Election night. A federal judge reinstated that Patel could see them on grounds that the absentees did not have a postmark and were received two days after the June 23 primary.

Why didn’t I challenge? It’s costly and my opponent and his family work within the Long Island GOPs. He is going to lose the general election anyway.

Grassroots activists should be angry enough to demand change. It’s something all political parties can agree on... and as Ruben says, “What You Should Know.”
