Coronavirus cases worldwide now surpassed 780,000, while the US takes the number one spot for most infections.
Will the Economy and Healthcare System Survive?
Just 3 days after half a million infections were confirmed, John Hopkins University now confirms more than 780,000 cases worldwide and close to 38,000 deaths. The US now leads all others in terms of infections, having more than 160,000 cases.
As new and more drastic measures are being implemented to limit the spread of the virus by way of lockdowns and limiting social contact between people, both the economy and health system are being put under extreme strain and taking serious damage due to the fact that thousands of businesses are closing down – some potentially for good.
Meanwhile, COVID-19 infections are slowing down in the East but picking up pace in the West, as the situation in China is relatively calm now, with most of the pressure coming to Europe and the state of New York, which remains the worst-hit state in the US.
