Dan Perkins: 60 Minutes Blasted Trump on Classified Docs and Ignored Biden's Problem

In September 2022, CBS correspondent Scott Pelley on the weekly news program 60 Minutes showed Joe Biden a picture of the classified documents on the floor of the Trump estate. He asked President Biden this question, "When you saw the photograph of the top-secret documents laid out on the floor at Mar-a-Lago, what did you think to yourself looking at that image?" Biden said, "How that could possibly happen, how one, anyone, could be that irresponsible," Biden suggested. "And I thought what data was in there that may compromise sources and methods. By that, I mean, names of people helped or et cetera." Biden finished, “And it's just totally irresponsible."

Many Americans were left with the same impression Biden had in reacting to the picture that President Trump kept the documents lying on the floor, out in the open and anybody could look and see what was in them, when hearing of the current president's bout of irresponsibility with classified information.

At no time in the interview did Pelly inform the President that the papers were brought from behind the security of lock and key, ordered by the FBI, and placed on the floor by them, while photos were taken.

In the past, investigators asked to see where docs were stored. Trump's attorneys took them to a basement room, and they looked around before leaving. Days later, Trump's attorneys got a letter asking them to further secure the room. Aides subsequently added a padlock.

Regarding the Biden papers, perhaps the timeline in their discovery of them is off. We were told that the first batch of documents was uncovered on November 2 in Biden’s old office at a University of Pennsylvania facility in Washington. The first CBS story came almost 10 weeks after the initial discovery. My questions are as follows. What if the papers were discovered long before the November 2nd date and were purposely withheld by Biden supporters? What if they were afraid that the release of the papers before the mid-term might have a negative impact on the election?

The FBI knew where the Trump papers were all the time which leads to more questions? Did the FBI know where the Biden papers were? There were over 30 agents on the Mar-a-Lago raid. How many FBI agents have searched Biden’s homes for more classified documents? To our knowledge, none so far.

The people who have been searching Biden's offices and homes have been his lawyers. Perhaps it is lawyers that are doing the searching and that is the reason why they keep finding stuff. It seems to me that 30 FBI agents would be better at searching than lawyers.

Another question is, if the Biden lawyers are not cleared to take classified material, they may be breaking the law by handling classified papers. Biden's lawyers did not initially turn over the papers to the Justice Department of the FBI. "The White House is cooperating with the National Archives and the Department of Justice regarding the discovery of what appear to be Obama-Biden Administration records, including a small number of documents with classified markings," Richard Sauber, a special counsel to Biden, said in a statement.

We were told that the documents were found on November 2. The National Archives was notified by the White House on the same day, then took possession of them on November 3. It appears that with the initial paper, the FBI and the Justice Department never had possession of the paper. I can’t find out on the subsequent papers if the FBI or Justice ever got the papers.

We know that classified papers were found in the glove box of the President's Classic Corvette. Given the haphazard way the papers were spread out in several different places I think we need a team of 30 or more FBI agents to thoroughly go to all the Biden homes and offices and search for classified material.

I know that this action could devastate Biden and his reelection run. If he can’t be trusted to protect our secrets, then he can’t be trusted to run our country.
