A pro-Trump conservative that won the Miss Michigan pageant was stripped of the title and disqualified from the World America pageant after the this week after organization decided that her social media accounts had posts which they felt were “offensive, insensitive and inappropriate.”
20-year-old Kathy Zhu, who serves as the President of the College Republicans at the University of Michigan was sent a deflating e-mail by the Miss World America organization on Thursday. Zhu tweeted screenshots of the email and her response on Thursday.
Miss World America's State/National/Chief Director accused me of being racist, Islamaphobic, and insensitive.
They stripped me of my Miss Michigan title due to my refusal to try on a hijab in 2018, my tweet about black on black gun violence, and "insensitive" statistical tweets. pic.twitter.com/K1Btho0Pgq

Zhu received both support and harassment from the twitterverse after her post went viral:
"I woke up this morning with an overwhelming amount of support; I can't thank you all enough," she Tweeted to her followers on Friday. “I am glad this story came to light because this is more than just some beauty pageant, this is about the prejudice views against people with 'different opinions.'"
