Ed Brodow: Biden Forced to Acknowledge Botched Energy Policy

Thanks to Biden’s policies, the vibrant economy that Trump gave us has disappeared.

Newsmax reports that the Biden administration has published a congressionally mandated report from the Department of Energy proving that Biden’s closing of the Keystone XL Pipeline destroyed US energy independence. The report estimates that the pipeline would have been worth $9.6 billion in economic benefits, including 60,000 jobs.

"The Biden administration finally owned up to what we have known all along—killing the Keystone XL Pipeline was the first step in the Biden administration's war on oil and gas production in the United States," said Sen. Steve Daines of Montana.

Thanks to Biden’s policies, the vibrant economy that Trump gave us has disappeared. “We were energy independent,” said political commentator Mark Levin. “Now we’re begging Venezuela and Saudi Arabia for oil. Joe Biden did that.” Ignoring the economic mess he created, Biden continues to make the outlandish claim that his energy policies have benefited Americans. On the heels of the DoE report, it will be interesting to see if Biden sticks to his bragging.

"The Department of Energy finally admitted to the worst-kept secret about the Keystone Pipeline,” said Sen. Jim Risch of Idaho. "[Biden’s] decision moved the US further away from energy independence and lower gas prices at a time when inflation and gas prices are drastically impacting Americans' pocketbooks.” It is hard to believe that voters rejected the prosperity of the Trump years in favor of Biden’s dystopia. Future historians will have a field day with this.

The current economic disaster happened because Biden surrendered to the anti-fossil fuel agenda of the left wing of the Democratic Party. This agenda is predicated on the argument that we must curtail the human-generated release of CO2 and other greenhouse gases into the atmosphere in order to solve what they consider to be the planet’s number one threat, man-made global warming. This can be accomplished, they tell us, by eliminating our dependence on fossil fuels—oil, gas, and coal.

“Biden attacked the energy industry,” said Bill O’Reilly. “He did it in the name of global warming. Harvesting of fuel was cut back drastically and that caused the price of oil worldwide to rise, and that caused the price of gas at the pump to rise, and that lit inflation, as all other goods went up in price as well because they are trucked to the stores and businesses. That is all on President Biden. He didn’t have to attack the fossil fuel industry.”

We should focus on four indisputable facts: (1) man-made global warming does not exist; (2) human beings are incapable of controlling the climate; (3) our economy and way of life are dependent on fossil fuels; and (4) viable fossil fuel alternatives do not exist, and will not exist in the foreseeable future.

The entire global warming agenda is a hoax. In support of this argument is the Global Warming Petition Project, in which 31,000 scientists conclude that “there is no convincing scientific evidence that human release of carbon dioxide, methane, or other greenhouse gases is causing or will, in the foreseeable future, cause catastrophic heating of the Earth’s atmosphere and disruption of the Earth’s climate.”

“There is no significant man-made global warming at this time,” agreed John Coleman, founder of the Weather Channel, “there has been none in the past, and there is no reason to fear any in the future.” Climate change is recognized as a natural phenomenon that has occurred throughout history. “Climate changes all the time,” said physicist and Nobel laureate Ivar Giaever, “and it’s nothing to do with global warming.”

President Trump understood this and took the US out of the Paris Accords. Why have the Obama and Biden administrations tried so hard to shove this nonsense down our throats? The answer is that alarmism over climate is being used to justify Democrats’ appetite for greater government control. “The government scares people into thinking that the end is nigh,” the Federalist Papers Project explained, “and that the only way to turn it around is to cede control to the federal government and allow them to force their economy-killing policies on business.”

The consequence for the US of adopting “green” policies is economic death. “The Green New Deal means poverty,” said Tucker Carlson. “The status quo will crumble. Factories will close. Unemployment will rise. Disposable income will disappear.” We should pay attention to what is happening across the Atlantic. European countries are flirting with disaster as they move away from fossil fuels.

“Europe is getting much poorer very quickly,” said Carlson. “Desperate Germans are scouring the forests for wood. The French government has announced energy rationing.” Why? The abandonment of fossil fuels has created an energy shortage. “Energy costs in Europe are expected to increase by hundreds of percent,” said Carlson. “Green energy cannot replace fossil fuels.”

If Biden continues with his green policy, it will play right into Obama’s socialist dream of fundamentally transforming America—and not for the better. Under the guise of responding to climate change, the Left wants to take what we have and redistribute it to the Third World even if it means crippling the US economy. And Joe Biden repeatedly insists he is doing us a favor.
