The new order from Georgia’s governor also bans local government officials from requiring people to wear masks in public. Kemp was also one of the first governors to ease restrictions as infections had been steadily declining. before a resurgence in June.
As of Wednesday, roughly 2,800 people have been hospitalized with COVID-19 – the highest on record. Overall, Georgia has had about 128,000 confirmed infections and close to 3,100 deaths.
