The Women of the Democrat Party took a united stand against Minnesota Senator Al Franken (D-MN) Wednesday in calling for his ouster.
No less than 8 Female Senate Democrats and 3 Male upper chamber Dems released statements in solidarity to voice their displeasure with the former Saturday Night Live cast members exposed behavior.
Senators Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY), Debbie Stabenow (D-MI), Maggie Hassan (D-NH), Mazie Hirono (D-HI), Claire McCaskill (D-MO), Tammy Baldwin (D-WI), Kamala Harris (D-CA) and third-ranking Senate Democrat Patty Murray (D-WA) all called for his resignation within minutes of each other.
As elected officials, we should be held to the highest standards—not the lowest. The allegations against Sen. Franken describe behavior that cannot be tolerated. While he’s entitled to an Ethics Committee hearing, I believe he should step aside to let someone else serve.

Today, I am calling on my colleague Al Franken to step aside. I’ve struggled with this decision because he’s been a good Senator and I consider him a friend. But that cannot excuse his behavior and his mistreatment of women. (thread)

Sexual harassment and misconduct should not be allowed by anyone and should not occur anywhere. I believe the best thing for Senator Franken to do is step down.

In addition, Senators Joe Donnelly (D-IN), Sherrod Brown (D-OH), Bob Casey (D-PA) and Democratic National Committee head Tom Perez have also chimed in to the discussion by publicly calling for Franken to step down.
I agree with my colleagues who have stepped forward today and called on Senator Franken to resign. We can’t just believe women when it’s convenient.

Let's see if Stuart Smalley does the honorable thing here.
He needs to take a long look in the mirror and decide that his resignation is the right thing to do for America.
