Have you heard about Google’s new gaming platform Stadia? Google has already shared valuable information about its new video game platform during the GDC presentation. While Google has remained silent regarding the price and game titles available, the company promised that they would reveal the details later in the summer.

So, to get to know more about this new video game platform, below an overview of Google Stadia.

All games available in Stadia will require a continuous internet connection. Meaning, in the case that your internet connection goes down, you will not be able to play the games.

  • All games available in Stadia will require a continuous internet connection.

  • The service will be running the Stadia games at up to 60 fps at 4k with and at 1080p for lower internet speeds.
  • The data center specifications for Stadia include GPU (56 computers, 10.7 teraflops, HbM2 memory), CPU ( 2.7 GHz, AVX 2, Custom x86 Processors, Hyper threaded), and Memory ( L2+L3 Cache of the 9.5 MB, 4846 GB transfer speed, 16 GB of RAM).

THE CHROMECAST

For you to play games on the Stadia, you need to choose an endpoint device that supports the Chromecast protocol. Most TVs now have built-in Chromecast, so you have nothing to worry about. You are also able to stream the games to any device that uses the Chrome browser. This means you can also use Stadia on your PC, tablet or smartphone.

THE STREAMING EXPERIENCE

Being that Stadia is a video game streaming service, it goes without saying that you will need a good internet connection. When it comes to the streaming experience, Google promised that Stadia will support 4k resolution at 60 fps (frames per second) with surround sound and HDR. Again, this is highly dependent on your internet’s bandwith.

THE CONTROLLERS

Apart from Chromecast support, you will also need a piece of hardware – a Stadia controller. The Stadia controller will use Wi-Fi to make a direct connection with Google’s streaming data center. This is done to reduce latency and to make it easier for you to share your gaming activities to portals like YouTube.

There you have it! For sure, you will be more excited about the upcoming announcements on the cost of service and available Stadia games this summer. So, you need to stay updated!
