Huckabee Sanders: Russia Probe Will Continue Without Comey

White House Deputy Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders appeared on the Today Show on NBC today to discuss the continuing transition of power at the FBI.

Among the topics discussed was the fact that the FBI investigation into Russian interference in the last election will continue under new leadership.

"That doesn't change because director Comey isn't there," Sanders said. "This absolutely has nothing to do with any investigation into Russia."

Regarding the chain of events leading to the actual firing she told NBC, "I'm not aware of that conversation, but I do know the decision to fire director Comey was the president's and the president's alone. Obviously, he took their recommendation very seriously. But the president had been thinking about this since November, since he was elected president.

"This was something he had considered. He had never been solidly on board with keeping Comey for the long term."

How this changes the investigation remains to be seen, but around election day it was well know that there was divide within the Bureau.

How will Comey's departure affect the investigation into Russian interference into the American presidential election? Share your opinion in the comments section below.
