“I never molested anyone.”- Roy Moore

Sunday on a telecast of "The Voice of Alabama Politics,” former judge and current Senate candidate Roy Moore insisted “I never molested anyone.”

"I had no encounter with them,” he said. “I never molested anyone, and for them to say that, I don't know why they're saying it, but it's not true."

Moore has been accused by several women of molestation and sexual assault when they were teenagers. The more striking claims were that he molested a 14-year-old and sexually assaulted a 16-year-old when he was in his 30's.

The Alabama Special Election has taken the national spotlight over the past few weeks with seemingly every talk show on TV and Radio discussing it at length. Politicians have weighed in as well. Senator Cory Booker (D-NJ) called it, "the most consequential election of a lifetime," as he campaigned in Alabama for Moore's opponent, Doug Jones.

The race is very important to both parties as they attempt to gain momentum going into the 2018 midterm election. The Senate is currently split 52 to 48 in favor of the GOP.

The furthering of the Trump agenda is dependent on maintaining majorities in the upper and lower chamber of Congress. Even with these majorities, the Trump administration has had trouble reaching consensus on Healthcare reform among other issues, but recently scored a victory in advancing Tax reform that should be signed into law by the president by the end of the year.

Polling has shown Moore as the leader with the Real Clear Politics Average having Moore at 49.1 vs 45.3 for Doug Jones. The nation will be watching on Tuesday as Alabama picks their next Senator.
