Kanye Visits Joel Osteen’s Lakewood Church: All You Need to Know

“Jesus has won the victory,” rapper, producer, entrepreneur and fashionista Kanye West said at Joel Osteen’s megachurch Sunday, talking about his recent conversion, album and a performance for all attendees.

God, the Devil, and Music

The Lakewood Church this Sunday saw Joel Osteen talking about his journey so far, also mentioning his father, the founder of the church and how some of his darkest moments gave him the power to rise and step into the light.

Shortly after, Kanye took the stage, giving a small performance of some of his songs from his latest album, backed up by a choir. He took some time to address his recent changes, a shift in beliefs, proudly exclaiming that he is now a servant of God.

“And all of that arrogance and confidence and cockiness that you all see me use before, God is now using for him. Because every time I stand up, I feel that I’m standing up and drawing a line in the sand, and saying ‘I’m here in service to God and no weapon formed against me shall prosper,’” the rapper said.

West also said that “Jesus has won the victory,” now that “the greatest artist that God has ever created is now working for him,” after a short rant on how it seems like the Devil steals “all the good musicians, all the good artists, all the good designers, all the good business people.”

West also showcased a bit of his latest album “Jesus Is King,” an album described to fit into the category of Christian rap, with heavy gospel themes all throughout.

The famed artist has been traveling all around the nation this year and bringing with him religious performances to large venues and festivals such as Coachella, all the while not ignoring the smaller venues, with a Friday performance of him and his choir at the Harris County Jail in Houston.
