Kremlin: Releasing Trump/Putin Calls May Harm Already ‘Troubled’ Relations

A Kremlin spokesman showed concern over the possibility of the U.S. publishing transcripts of calls between the leaders of the U.S. and Russia with the recent publication of President Trump’s conversation with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

“We would like to hope that it wouldn’t come to that in our relations, which are already troubled by a lot of problems. … The materials related to conversations between heads of states are usually classified according to normal international practice,” Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.

Tuesday news of Nancy Pelosi’s formal impeachment inquiry against Trump due to accusations of pressuring President Zelensky into investigating political rival Joe Biden by freezing military aid to Ukraine, something the Ukrainian leader denied himself, have drawn a reaction from a spokeswoman for Russia’s foreign ministry.

“Is it the Democrats’ job to make a laughingstock of the United States? … It’s exactly what Ms. Pelosi has done to Congress, the White House and other state institutions,” the spokeswoman said.

Accusations of abuse of power from Democrats’ are far from over as the top contender and Trump’s rival in the 2020 elections, Joe Biden, has joined the side of those who wish to see President Trump impeached.
