NJ Resident Attending Ohio State Shot Dead

Fifth-year student Chase Meola, 23, was found dead in an alley about 2am on Sunday.

An ex-high school football player from New Jersey was fatally shot near Ohio State University on Sunday. Authorities reported the student was attending the school.

The University's public safety department said that the fifth-year student, Chase Meola, 23, was found dead in an alley about 2am.

According to officials, there was an altercation outside of a broken up house party before the shooting occurred.

The police have already taken in custody and charged with murder, an anonymous 18-year-old suspect in Meola’s shooting.

The University's public safety department stated that “The Ohio State University community is in mourning, and our deepest condolences and support go to the family and friends of Chase.”

Chase Meola played for the Mahwah High School Thunderbirds, who won a sectional title in 2015.
