Secretary of State Mike Pompeo reported 'good progress' on Thursday regarding negotiations with North Korea. Pompeo, who has been accompanied by the CIA's Andrew Kim and the State Department's Mark Lambert, have been in talks with North Korea's diplomatic representative Kim Yong Chol.

The meeting was abbreviated and lasted less than two hours. It was said to have been completed by 11:25 am EST, well before the originally scheduled end time of 1:30 pm, according to a U.S. official who spoke on condition of anonymity.

After the meeting, Secretary Pompeo had this to say on Twitter:

Many speculated that all was lost for the talks what seems to be a temporary reversal from North Korean leadership following a joint military exercise carried out by South Korea and the United States a few weeks ago.

President Trump had just this to offer on Twitter:

Will the administration be able to successfully oversee the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula? Stay tuned...
