The meeting was abbreviated and lasted less than two hours. It was said to have been completed by 11:25 am EST, well before the originally scheduled end time of 1:30 pm, according to a U.S. official who spoke on condition of anonymity.
After the meeting, Secretary Pompeo had this to say on Twitter:
Substantive talks with the team from #NorthKorea. We discussed our priorities for the potential summit between our leaders. pic.twitter.com/y5sMadd84v

Good progress today during our meetings with Kim Yong Chol and his team. #NorthKorea and the world would benefit greatly from the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula. pic.twitter.com/QfeALSsxGA

Many speculated that all was lost for the talks what seems to be a temporary reversal from North Korean leadership following a joint military exercise carried out by South Korea and the United States a few weeks ago.

President Trump had just this to offer on Twitter:
Very good meetings with North Korea.

Will the administration be able to successfully oversee the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula? Stay tuned...
