A Coronavirus outbreak at a Tennessee nursing home leaves two dead and more than 100 hospitalized.
After a number of COVID-19 test results were revealed as positive, scores of residents were evacuated from the Gallatin Center for Rehabilitation and Healing, with the National Guard arriving Saturday to continue testing staff and residents.
Those who tested positive for the coronavirus were transported to one of several hospitals, initially being a total of 42 people, later joined by fifty-nine additional patients. Those victims remain in isolation at the Sumner Regional Medical Center, bringing the total count to more than 100, with two people having died at the hospital as a result of COVID-19 infection.
Thirty-three staff members of the Gallatin Center returned positive results for the virus and are self-isolating in their homes. The facility itself is being cleaned and disinfected by a joint operation between Tennessee’s Department of Health, Department of Military and Emergency Management Agency.
