Navalny Blames Putin for Poisoning

Alexei Navalny was poisoned by a Novichok nerve agent and he is recovering in Germany now and any involvement in Navalny’s poisoning has been denied by Kremlin.

On Thursday, Vladimir Putin's spokesman stated that there was no evidence that Alexei Navalny had been poisoned with a nerve agent, and the CIA was working with the opposition leader.

On Aug. 20, Alexei Navalny lost consciousness on a flight in Russia's Siberia region and was transferred to a German hospital a couple of days later.

According to Navalny, the order to use Novichok could only have come from those who work for the Russian president.

The opposition leader also added that "If 30 people have access to a [chemical] agent, and not three, then it's a global threat."

At first, the supporters of Navalny suggested that his tea had been poisoned at Tomsk airport, however, some traces of Novichok were found on water bottles at the hotel where he stayed the night before.

When Navalny was asked why Putin would target him, he spoke of recent unrest in the far eastern province of Khabarovsk.

Regarding the massive anti-government protests following the election, Navalny said that "The system is fighting for its survival and we've just felt the consequences."

The opposition leader was released from the hospital last week and he is still recovering.

Navalny’s spokeswoman said that his bank accounts had been frozen but Alexei Navalny was still planning to return to Russia.

"Not going back would mean that Putin had achieved his goal... I will not give Putin the gift of not returning to Russia," the opposition leader stated.
