Less than 24 hours after a shooter wounded two sheriff’s deputies in an obvious ambush in Compton, the former Vice President Joe Biden appealed for gun control. Joe Biden also posted a tweet stating that “Weapons of war have no place in our communities,” and “We need to ban assault weapons and high-capacity magazines.”
26 years ago today, the Senate passed 10-year bans on assault weapons and high-capacity magazines—it was an effort I was proud to champion.
These bans saved lives, and Congress should have never let them expire.
As president, I’ll take on the @NRA and we’ll ban them once again.

Trump Goes Hard on Suspects
Donald Trump, who appealed for a “fast trial” and an eventual death penalty, used the ambush to portray his rival as weak on crime. During the “Latinos for Trump” event in Las Vegas, the US President highlighted his campaign for justice and kept attacking his opponent stating that “He’s not strong for law and order and everybody knows that.”
If they die, fast trial death penalty for the killer. Only way to stop this! https://t.co/K3sKh28GjX

On Saturday evening, the two wounded sheriff’s deputies from LA Country underwent surgery and were listed in “critical” condition. On the next day, the suspect’s prosecution was still on the move.
