President Abrams? Failed Georgia Candidate Makes Bold Prediction

Democrat Stacey Abrams mentions “plan” to become US president by 2040.

The First Woman President?

Abrams sat down to have an interview with FiveThirtyEight on Friday, talking a little bit about race, gender and their roles in her run for governor, as well as potential future endeavors.

“Do you think the country will elect a woman president in the next 20 years?” reporter Clare Malone asked.

“Yes, absolutely,” Abrams replied, shortly after responding to another question asking if she thinks she’ll be elected to which Abrams said - “Yes, I do. That’s my plan. And I’m very pragmatic.”

Despite Abrams’ highest position so far being a seat in the Georgia House of Representatives, she seems to have big goals and plans and seems keen on attaining a higher position like vice president or president.

Abrams became famous and gathered quite a bit of attention during and after her battle with Republican Brian Kemp in 2018, which she lost by 1.4 percentage points. What made her more notorious is the fact that even after the loss, Abrams didn’t concede defeat, instead saying that her opponent, Kemp, waged a voter suppression campaign aimed against black voters.

“Despite the final tally and the inauguration [of Gov. Brian Kemp] and the situation we find ourselves in, I do have a very affirmative statement to make: We won,” she told a crowd last April.

Abrams is still not changing her mind about the election, and has yet to concede it, although it doesn’t seem like that’s going to be happening any time soon:

“We don’t have to concede elections anymore, because when we concede, we are condoning systems that are used to oppress us,” Abrams said last May, per the Texas Tribune.
