De Niro Refuses to Settle Discrimination Suit

Settling not a consideration for Robert De Niro in a case for alleged gender discrimination and harassment, filed by a former employee.

Robinson vs De Niro

“My client has absolutely no interest in making payment to settle this matter,” De Niro’s attorney Hillary Raimondi said during a federal court hearing, per Page Six.

The lawsuit was filed by former employee Graham Chase Robinson, claiming that “day in and day out” she was discriminated against for the 11 years she worked for Canal Productions – De Niro’s company.

“Ms. Robinson was asked to do things that her male colleagues were never asked to do, like scratch Mr. De Niro’s back, button his buttons, tie his ties… The whole work environment was unacceptable,” Robinson’s lawyer Alexandra Harwin, previously told FOX Business.

In recent court papers, however, De Niro claims that Robinson threatened to write a tell-all book about him, including personal information, if her demands weren’t met, TMZ had reported.

“Among these duties, De Niro directed Ms. Robinson to put away his boxers, hang up his clothes, wash his sheets, vacuum his apartment, set his table, mend his clothing, and select gifts for his children,” the lawsuit states, and Robinson claims that the Hollywood star treated her as his “office wife.”

Allegedly, De Niro also seems to have anger management issues, often getting mad at her, including calling her a “spoiled brat” and sending profane voicemails. The claims were dismissed by the actor’s attorney Tom Harvey, calling them “beyond absurd.”

Robinson also claims that De Niro struck first by filing a $6 million lawsuit in August 2019 under Canal Productions, alleging that Robinson stole hundreds of thousands of company dollars, lied to get paid for vacation days and watched “Friends” on Netflix during work.

“Canal’s preemptive strike was an act of unlawful retaliation,” her legal team argued, calling the request for $6 million in relief “clearly excessive.”
