Sunday saw President Donald Trump warning New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio that the federal government will step in if he can’t handle the rise of violence in the city.
NYC Violence Skyrockets, Feds to Step In?
Fox 5 NY has reported five deaths after over 30 shootings over the weekend, with many interviewees like former NYPD captain and Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams saying that the city is not responding with “the level of urgency” that it should.

So far this year, New York City has had over 1,087 shooting victims – close to two times the amount that the city experienced for the same time-frame last year, with deaths from such incidents also on the rise as the city has recorded 263 deaths compared to 2019’s 196.
President Trump has been calling out major cities’ Democrat mayors for failing to control the ongoing social unrest, which began with the death of George Floyd, although mayors from Portland and others believe that the arrival of federal agents would only increase tensions and lead to more violence.
Trump was endorsed by the Police Benevolent Association of the City of New York, who called out NYC politicians for “demonizing” the department and removing tools needed to “get guns off the streets.”
