Recover Notes from Recently Deleted
When you accidentally delete a note on your iPhone, don't panic! It's not gone for good just yet. Instead, it moves to the "Recently Deleted" folder within the Notes app, where it stays for up to 30 days before being permanently deleted. Here's how you can recover your notes from this folder:
Step 1: Open the Notes app
Locate the Notes app on your iPhone's home screen, and tap on it to open it.
Step 2: Go to the main page
If you still need to get on the main page of the Notes app, tap on the back arrow at the top-left corner until you reach the main screen. That is where you'll see a list of all your note folders.
Step 3: Locate the Recently Deleted folder
Scroll through the list of folders to find the one labeled "Recently Deleted." That is where your deleted notes are temporarily stored. Tap on this folder to view all the deleted notes still available for recovery.
Step 4: Swipe left on the deleted note
Find the note you want to recover from the list of deleted notes. Swipe left on it to reveal two options: "Move" and "Delete."
Step 5: Move the note to the desired location
Tap the "Move" option to return the deleted note to an active folder. A list of available folders will appear, and you can choose a folder where you'd like the note to be stored. Once selected, the note will be recovered and moved to the desired folder.
Remember, you only have 30 days before a deleted note disappears permanently from your iPhone! So, if you accidentally delete a note and want it back, follow these steps within this time frame to ensure a successful recovery.
Recover Notes from Mail account
If you can't locate your deleted notes in the Recently Deleted folder or want to recover notes that disappeared when you removed an associated email account, here's how you can recover your notes using the Mail app:
Step 1: Check if You Have Enabled the Notes app in Mail
First, ensure your Mail account is connected to the Notes app. To do this, open the Settings app on your iPhone, scroll down, and tap "Mail". Then, go to "Accounts" and select the email account you want to check. If the Notes app is enabled, you'll see a toggle switch next to "Notes." If not, turn it on to allow Notes to sync with the Mail app.
Step 2: Add an email account if necessary
If the email account you want to recover notes from isn't listed, you must add it. In the Settings app, under "Mail" and "Accounts," tap on "Add Account." Select your email provider from there and sign in to your email account.
Step 3: Enable Notes in the email account
Once you've added the email account, make sure the Notes app is enabled for that account. Turn on the toggle switch next to "Notes" so the app can access and retrieve notes associated with the email account.
Upon syncing your email account with the Notes app, the app will display a folder containing notes from your email. You can now browse the list of notes and access any previously disappeared or deleted notes associated with the email account.
Recover Notes from iCloud on iPhone
If you've previously backed up your Notes to iCloud and can't recover them from other sources like the Recently Deleted folder or the Mail app, you can access your iCloud backup to retrieve your notes. Here are the steps you can follow:
Step 1: Open the Settings app
First, open the Settings app on your iPhone, accessible from your device's home screen.
Step 2: Access iCloud
Next, tap on your Apple ID (generally found at the top). Locate and tap on "iCloud" to access your iCloud settings.
Step 3: Enable Notes sync
You should see a list of apps syncing with iCloud in your iCloud settings. Find the "Notes" app and toggle the switch to enable sync. Syncing is active if the switch is green, and your iPhone will automatically download and display any notes in your iCloud backup.
Following these steps, you can access the notes stored in your iCloud and recover them on your iPhone. Remember, this method is only available if you have previously backed up your notes to iCloud. If not, you'll need to explore other recovery methods mentioned before.
Recover Notes from the iCloud web version
If you've synced your notes with iCloud and can't recover them through the abovementioned methods, you can use the iCloud web version to retrieve deleted notes within the last 30 days. Follow these steps to recover your notes:
Step 1: Access iCloud website
Open your preferred web browser and navigate to the iCloud website at www.icloud.com.
Step 2: Log into your account
Enter your Apple ID and password to log into your iCloud account.
Step 3: Click on the Notes option
After logging in, click your iCloud account's "Notes" icon to access your saved notes.
Step 4: Select the Recently Deleted folder
In the left sidebar, click on the "Recently Deleted" folder. If you don't see this folder, you don't have any notes that can be subject to recovery.
Step 5: Recover deleted note
If you find the note you'd like to recover, click on it to select it. Above the note, click on the "Recover" button. The note will find its way back to the Notes folder. If you want to move the recovered note directly to a custom folder, drag it from the Recently Deleted folder to your desired location.
You can recover notes through the iCloud web version within 30 days of deletion using these steps. This method works when you have previously synchronized your notes with iCloud and other recovery methods aren't effective or available.
