Repeal THEN Replace: Trump emerges as the Voice of Reason in Healthcare Debate

If Republican Senators are unable to pass what they are working on now, they should immediately REPEAL, and then REPLACE at a later date! -President Donald Trump on Twitter

Finally, some sanity is shown on the issue of comprehensive healthcare reform. I have railed for this very thing for weeks, as it became apparent that the Senate had no intention of recrafting The American Healthcare Act (AHCA).

The failure of legislators to deliver on their promises so far jeopardizes the 2018 midterms for the GOP. The fundamental promise of the past few election cycles for Republicans was to repeal Obamacare.

Americans voted for legislators who promised common sense reforms and an easing of regulatory burden for health insurance providers, as well as the repeal of federally mandated taxes and penalties for private citizens and employers.

Key to driving down pricing for medical insurance would be the installation of a few important pieces of reform.

  1. The allowance of the sale of private healthcare insurance to citizens outside of the health insurance company's state of origin. This would allow for more competitive pricing and options that currently do not exist in the market.
  2. Tort reform: The price of malpractice insurance is one of the largest of the expenses for a medical practice. Bringing that cost down would be instrumental to creating significant savings of policy premiums.
  3. Fully tax-deductible and portable Healthcare Savings Accounts (HSA). By allowing Americans to save for their healthcare in a fully tax-free climate, many families could save as a unit and transfer the funds among themselves as the need arises to spend on healthcare services.

I recently discussed these reforms with JD Hayworth on Newsmax TV.
