Sen. Ernst: Impeach Joe Biden?

Taking in consideration most polls’ results, Democrats’ top 2020 candidate Joe Biden to potentially face impeachment immediately should he win the race.

Impeaching Biden?

Sen. Joni Ernst of Iowa told Bloomberg News in an interview on Sunday that Republicans could be looking to impeach Biden in relation to Ukraine and the affair that led to House Democrats’ impeachment inquiry into Trump last year, now turned Senate trial.

“I think this door of impeachable whatever has been opened. Joe Biden should be very careful what he’s asking for because, you know, we can have a situation where if it should ever be President Biden, that immediately, people, right the day after he would be elected would be saying, ‘Well, we’re going to impeach him,’” Ernst said.

“Being assigned to take on Ukrainian corruption yet turning a blind eye to Burisma because his son was on the board making over a million dollars a year,” could be one of the allegations Biden would potentially face, Ernst added.

“Iowa caucuses are this next Monday evening and I’m really interested to see how this discussion today informs and influences the Iowa caucus voters, those Democratic caucus-goers. Will they be supporting Vice President Biden at this point?” she said.

In response, Joe Biden claimed in a Twitter post that Ernst and Trump are “scared to death I’ll be the nominee,” in a way hoping to attract more voters through his interpretation of Ernst’s comments.

Sen. Ernst also noted that Biden’s name comes up quite a lot in Trump’s ongoing impeachment trial in the Senate. Despite Democrats’ initial hopes, after Friday’s decision to not hear witness testimony or subpoena additional documents, it’s almost 100% certain that Trump will be acquitted sometime this week.
