Dan Perkins: Should November 21st Be The New Independence Day?

There's an old movie called Gun Fight at the O.K. Corral, a  classic western of the good guys in white hats versus the bad guys in black hats. The bad guys have been running the town for a long time, and the community hires a new sheriff to come in and get rid of the bad guys and make their town a good place to live again.

On November 22, unless something changes, Joe Biden's Presidential mandate will force companies to lay off many millions of people on one day. The battle appears on the surface to be over forced injections of COVID-19, but that's not what is really going on. The struggle is over the government wanting to control people’s lives. People feel forced to take a stand for their independence to resist what the government wants them to do.

We could very well find ourselves, three days from Thanksgiving, in a battle for the survival of our nation. As a nation, we'll have to decide whether the bad guys continue to rule or millions of Americans in white hats take control of their country and its destiny once again. The left arrogantly believes that Americans will capitulate and give up their right to do what they want to do. I think the left has put itself in a non-retractable position.

If the left were to postpone the mandatory vaccine because the American people stand up to them and say no, they lose their power. For the most part, the people who have already received the shots would appear less interested in the challenge than those who have not taken the shot. However, I believe some people taking the shot, like myself who got very little from the vaccine, are wondering the value of their shot. They probably also wonder about the effectiveness of the boosters.

Americans know that they can take the shot and still contract as well as pass the virus to other people regardless of their shot experience. They will be asking questions about the booster and potential additional boosters.  Will they be mandated by the government? It is important to point out that the people who will be most adversely affected by the mandates are blacks, Hispanics, and native Americans. These Americans are the ones who have been most vocal about not taking shots.

Freedom is at stake for all races of people in the United States. I can't think of any industry that will not be adversely affected by the mandates. Some will be affected more than others. Minorities are an essential part of public services for cities, counties, and states. It is currently estimated in some parts of the nation, 40% of the public employees are not vaccinated and have no intention of getting the vaccine. Seattle now estimates that if nothing changes, they will have to lay off 40% of the police force on November 22. What will happen to the crime rate with 40% of the police force gone? According to the CDC, as of October 11, 143 million people have not received one shot. There are approximately 60,000,000 children under the age of 12. Subtracting them leaves 83 million unvaccinated adults who could protest the mandate and be fired. How many millions will be fired?

If, on November 22, we still have millions of people who have not been vaccinated, will they be terminated from their employment in order for the left to maintain their control over the American people? If we have millions of people who lose their jobs on November 22, look for the stock markets worldwide to collapse, creating an immediate depression. I would also expect the interest rates on government obligations to collapse with perhaps the shorter end of the maturities actually trading negative returns. Inflation will explode because of the uncertainty of the delivery of goods and the prices for goods and services to the majority of Americans. I believe citizens in any country with mandates on the vaccine to follow the footsteps quickly of the United States.

The longer the shootout continues, the greater the damage to our country and to our people. Look for food shortages, gasoline shortages, brownouts, and blackouts of power, exploding crime along with fear and panic.

It must've been a tough time when newly minted Americans sacrificed everything for independence from tyrants. I'm sure it was not an easy time, but the American patriots held fast to their beliefs and survived. They got rid of the tyrants and became the greatest nation on earth. November 22 Americans may well be asked to seek their independence from the tyrants trying to control their freedoms.

My greatest fear is that the progressives on the left will be willing to sacrifice America to prove that they are in control and that Americans must be subservient. Perhaps the day will come when our grandchildren ask why we changed Independence Day from the 4th of July to November 22.
