Sloppy Strzok Kept ‘Sensitive’ FBI Docs Unsecured

A decent amount of “security violations” and “unprofessional conduct” were outlined in a release of documents on Monday by the Department of Justice (DOJ), concerning former FBI agent Peter Strzok. A lawsuit filed by the ex-agent, in which he requests to be reinstated at the FBI, because he was unjustly fired, was also dismissed, again due to the aforementioned violations.

The Line Between Personal Life and Work, Political Bias?

Strzok failed in quite a few endeavours over the years, going all the way back to the 2016 elections. The Clinton emails showing up on an unsecured laptop, belonging to Anthony Weiner, was a big deal, and Strzok had failed to investigate those potentially classified emails, perhaps due to bias, as she was his preferred candidate over Trump.

Around the time of said email investigations, a bunch of anti-Trump messages between Strzok and FBI lawyer Lisa Page showed up, as well as the speculations that he was having an affair with Page, which was later confirmed.

The DOJ and the Office of Professional Responsibility (OPR) also noted this and said it’s part of why the decision was made to not reinstate him – the ex-agent said he made sure he had “double deleted” any FBI-related materials from personal devices, but despite all this, his wife found out about his affair from his phone. Strzok did not turn over his personal devices for review, but acknowledged that he had done work for the FBI through Apple’s iMessage.

The motion, dismissing the case, simply stated that he cannot succeed on any of his claims – and that having such a key role within the FBI on high-profile investigations “imposed on him a higher burden of caution with respect to his speech,” something Strzok failed in spectacularly, especially with the anti-Trump messages, a lot of which, were sent from government-issued phones.

“It is because of those text messages, and the paramount importance of preserving the FBI’s ability to function as a trusted, nonpartisan institution, that Plaintiff was removed from his position, and not because of any alleged disagreement with Plaintiff’s viewpoints on political issues or Tweets from the President,” the motion said, despite Strzok’s claims that the DOJ was set to ruin his reputation and humiliate him.
