Many East Coast states are extending their Coronavirus shutdowns to May 15th, as officials scramble to find a way to reopen the economy without causing a second wave of infections.
New York Remains on Pause
New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced via Twitter on Thursday that the state lockdown will be extended to May 15, with social distancing rules remaining in place, as Cuomo and fellow governors begin reopening plans and are making an effort to figure out how to coordinate everything smoothly.
New York on PAUSE will be extended in coordination with other states to May 15.
Non-essential workers must continue to stay home.

“What happens after then? I don’t know. We will see what the data shows,” Cuomo said.
The New York governor is leading and working with six neighboring states – New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Connecticut, Massachusetts and Delaware – to organize a coordinated response and effort to fight the Coronavirus pandemic off, as New York remains the hardest-hit state in the US, with more than 215,000 cases and 31,000 deaths.
Cuomo also added that Coronavirus hospitalizations dropped to their lowest levels since the beginning of the outbreak, with deaths also marking their lowest number in almost a week.
