Earlier this year Cardi B had told GQ that as a teen she was a member of the Nine Trey Gangsta Bloods comparing it to “a fraternity, a sorority,” though she added that she “wouldn’t want a young person, a young girl, to think it’s okay to join it.”
The information came from Brooklyn rapper Tekashi 6ix9ine’s testimony in court on Thursday, where he said that Cardi B was a member of the Nine Trey Gangsta Bloods, though according to Page Six, he insisted on never copying her by featuring gang members in music videos.
Atlantic Records – Cardi B’s record company, quickly responded to the news on Billboard, denying that she was a member of the Bloods.
Rapper 6ix9ine (real name Daniel Hernandez) had pleaded guilty earlier this year on racketeering charges and federal weapons, however he made an agreement with authorities to cooperate against the gang in question – the Nine Trey Gangsta Bloods.
When asked on Thursday if his testimony was truly to help the government or just increase the possibility of him getting a lighter sentence, the rapper responded “little bit of both.”
