Trump Grants a Full Pardon to Michael Flynn

On Wednesday, Donald Trump wrote on his Twitter account: "It is my Great Honor to announce that General Michael T. Flynn has been granted a Full Pardon" and wished his ex-security adviser a happy Thanksgiving. In this way, the President fabricated a symbolic end to Robert Mueller's investigation related to the presidential election in 2016.

A bit later, the White House stated that Michael T. Flynn "should never have been prosecuted" and Donald Trump’s pardon ends "the relentless, partisan pursuit of an innocent man."

The statement also added that "today’s action sets right an injustice against an innocent man and an American hero” and it should “serve as a reminder to all of us that we must remain vigilant over those in whom we place our trust and confidence."

The former security adviser of Trump has pleaded guilty twice to lying about his conversations with the ambassador of Russia, Sergey Kislyak.

During their conversation, Flynn insisted on Kislyak to be “even-keeled” to penalty measures telling him they “can have a better conversation” about relations between the US and Russia.

During the conversations between Flynn and Kislyak, the FBI was investigating eventual coordination between Russia and Trump over the 2016 election.
