On Monday, residents of Philadelphia got violent after a knife-armed man was gunned down by the police.
Around 4pm, the man identified as Walter Wallace Jr. (27), refused to drop his weapon, and two officers fired at him. Later, Wallace died at the hospital.
The Philadelphia Inquirer reported that police were called to a West Philadelphia block, where they fell upon a knife-armed man who had an argument with another person.
After rejecting the cops’ order to drop his knife, the man charged at them, and they shot at him.
The officers were wearing body cameras, a police spokesperson said.
According to the witnesses, when the officers opened fire, the victim stayed at least 10 feet away.
The District Attorney of Philadelphia, Larry Krasner, stated the shooting will be investigated by his office's Special Investigation Unit.
After Mayor Jim Kenney watched the incident footage, he said that "it presents difficult questions that must be answered."
