What is Zucano Ransomware?

What is Ransomware?

Ransomware is a type of malware that criminals install on your computer. This malicious software locks you out of your computer and encrypts all the files on it. The criminals then demand money from you in order to decrypt the files and unlock your machine. If you don't pay, they keep your files encrypted forever, or until you accidentally delete them.

How Does Ransomware Spread?

Ransomware is spread through spam email attachments or infected downloads. If you click an attachment from someone who doesn't know you and your computer is unprotected, then the ransomware can install itself on your computer. If you download an app from a third-party app store and don't pay attention to the permissions it's asking for, that could also be how ransomware gets installed on your device.

Zucano Ransomware is a type of ransomware that encrypts all your files on your computer and demands payment in exchange to decrypt the files. Zucano Ransomware then monitors activity on the device and automatically locks your device if you don't pay up within an hour, after which it deletes all data from the computer. Zucano Ransomware doesn't seem to have any other malicious effects, but it's still definitely up for consideration as a ransomware family.
