What don't you do when you are one of the most polarizing figures in politics for your support of the President and have been removed from one of the more powerful positions in Government? Allow yourself to be quoted on the record in a manner that is damaging to your agenda.

The Guardian is reporting that in new book they obtained, former White House Chief Strategist Steve Bannon described the Trump Tower meeting between the president’s son and a group of Russians during the 2016 election campaign as “treasonous” and “unpatriotic."

“They’re going to crack Don Junior like an egg on national TV.”- Steve Bannon

In the book, which was written by author Michael Wolff, Bannon warns that the investigation into alleged collusion between the Trump Campaign and the Russian Government will focus on money laundering and predicts, “They’re going to crack Don Junior like an egg on national TV.”

Paul Manafort and his business partner Rick Gates have already been indicted for what amounts a tax evasion charge, while former National Security Advisor Michael Flynn's plea deal involves an unrelated meeting.

The Russia collusion narrative has been the dominant force in the news-cycle for the better part of a year. Bannon, who already publicly criticized Trump on his North Korea strategy on his way out of the White House pulled no punches in the book stating, “Even if you thought that this was not treasonous, or unpatriotic, or bad shit, and I happen to think it’s all of that, you should have called the FBI immediately.”

Bannon has stated his intent to support Trump from outside the White House at various times. Allowing these opinions to be leaked purposely is certainly a head scratcher in advance of the critical 2018 midterm elections. Bannon himself has vowed to be a factor in this election stating his coalition will primary any Senator not named Ted Cruz.
